What to expect from Terrible Lizards and its dinosaur-filled adventure
Terrible Lizards’ plot follows a college student named Jordan traveling along Route 66 whose car breaks down near Dalton’s Dinos, a roadside attraction in New Mexico. With no cell phones or rideshare services available, the student enters the venue seeking help, only to find it deserted and something far more terrifying lurking inside.
With no staff around, Jordan discovers a telephone and hears a mysterious voice claiming to be Stella, who asks him to find a missing child. Things take a terrifying turn when monstrous creatures start hunting Jordan. Players must explore abandoned dig sites, forgotten caverns, and monster-filled tunnels while relying on quick reflexes and precise movement to survive.
The game offers no weapons, so combat isn’t an option. Players must run, jump, slide, wall-run, bounce, grab ledges, and leap between platforms to escape the creatures. Precise timing and momentum are essential while navigating the game’s environment.
According to the developers, the movement system draws inspiration from first-person action shooters. The developer describes a “rhythmic game flow” where players always move at a fixed top speed. Beyond the chases, players can uncover Dalton’s Dinos’ dark history by collecting cassette tapes, hidden notes, and audio recordings scattered across the site.
Terrible Lizards is also available on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
