Electronic Arts and Epic Games have today officially announced their upcoming title, Bulletstorm. Developed by People Can Fly, Bulletstorm is a futuristic first-person shooter that plans on delivering action-packed sequences and mechanics that evolve the genre into something more. Though the game has been rumored for quite some time now, this is the first time that the companies themselves have come out to lay claim.

“Bulletstorm is the kind of game we love to make because it’s pure, unadulterated entertainment,” said Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps. “People Can Fly has created a wildly fun first-person shooter that looks gorgeous running on the latest Unreal Engine 3 technology, and the skillshot system is a welcome addition to the genre. We can’t wait to see how everyone reacts to seeing Bulletstorm.”

“We’re very excited to work with Epic Games and People Can Fly on this new project. The first time we laid eyes on Bulletstorm, we instantly knew this is going to be the next big hit from these two great studios delivering yet again an entirely new experience for shooter fans,” said Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA Partners, David DeMartini.

Bulletstorm releases in 2011 (not very futuristic for us, but close enough) and tells the story of a group of special forces known as Deadly Echo. Of course, when two of the unit’s more skilled members find out that they’ve been manipulated into working for the wrong side, Ishi Sato and Grayson Hunt, they are exiled to the furthest reaches of space. As expected, revenge is the name of the game and there are going to be a lot of mutated enemies to fight on your way to that sweet, sweet dish.

Bulletstorm is coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, with the game’s first art featured in the PlayStation University forums. We’re excited, are you?

  1. I’m more excited for Gears 3, but this game sounds interesting too.

Well it’s another shooter… hardly excited as it is. Needs more actual footage before I can make up my mind if this is something I’ll play or just be ignored like many other shooters out there.

  3. Dont think epic can make anything but shooters lol waiting to see gameplay before i cast my opion on this game. too early to tell how goods it going to be

  4. I think I’ll take a pass on this one. Market is getting to heavy on the FPS side, well it has been for a good long while now really. Lots of other games in different genres I have missed also that I really need to catch up on before rewarding a developer for helping over populating an already watered down genre.

People can fly in FPS? Its already in my interest box. Epic games is a pretty good developer,, except for the online portion of Gears 2, it was terrible.

Epic Games isn’t developing this game though Moo.

i want to know if its going to be made for PS3 then ported to xbox 360…

  8. @hacker13sacker: hmmm im guessing 360 to PS3 since theyve made gears for the 360 and are quite fond of its hardware.

i really dont give a damn about this anyways lol, all these boring ass shooters disgust me!

You and I are in the same boat. So many shooters being released in a short amount of time makes it hard to get excited about any of them.
