I’m guessing it doesn’t come as a surprise, but apparently Fallout: New Vegas kicked some major ass at retail upon release. According to Bethesda Softworks, Fallout managed to push over five million units both digitally and through retail stores. While these numbers are definitely respect worthy, they’re not nearly as eye-opening when you realize that those five million units turn into $300+ million dollars.
“We are delighted by the reception Fallout: New Vegas has received from fans around the world,” said Vlatko Andonov, president of Bethesda.
“Despite the large launch quantities for this title, we have already received substantial re-orders from our retail partners, underscoring the tremendous popularity of this highly entertaining game. We believe Fallout: New Vegas will be the must buy title for gamers throughout the holiday season.”
It’s hard to argue with figures. Bethesda has obviously done a fantastic job marketing and creating a buzz around New Vegas. Whether or not it’ll be the must buy title this Holiday season is yet to be seen, but it’ll definitely be a top contender for sure.

It seems the first-person Fallout games are quite popular. Hopefully Bethesda doesn’t take advantage of that like Activision did with Call of Duty and Guitar Hero.
