The 2026 Fortnite Fortnitemares has officially released its trailer. This year’s annual event features popular characters from various horror franchises. Additionally, it includes a famous prop from a 2026 hit horror film and an anime character.
Epic Games has released a cinematic trailer collaboration with multiple franchises, including Beetlejuice, Five Nights at Freddy’s, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Purge, and the anime Black Clover. The trailer also features the fan-made track Join Us for a Bite by JT Music, inspired by the horror video game Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location.
As the iconic fan-made song plays in the background, various characters from the aforementioned franchise are shown taking over Fortnite’s Battle Royale ground. The trailer, as the Fortnitemares infest the area, offers a first look at the Freddy Krueger skin. Additionally, skins of FNAF characters like Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, and Chica are also revealed, as the animatronics haunt the spooky hallways.

As the trailer progresses, Beetlejuice‘s Betelgeuse emerges from the grave, donning his iconic striped suit. Surprisingly, Asta from Black Clover also appears in his anti-magic devil form. Apart from these, The Purge’s iconic Lady Liberty and Slender Man also feature, offering a first look at their skins. As the trailer nears its end, the One Wish Willow from the hit blockbuster Obsession is briefly shown; however, the prop details are kept under wraps.

Fortnite’s Fortnitemares 2026 event officially launches on October 1, 2026. It will be launched after the v42.30 update. This update will not only kickstart the Fortnitemares event but also introduce new sprites and variants, including the Birthday Sprite, Reaper, Trick or Treat, Gummy, and Holofoil. The new patch will also fix existing bugs in the game.
The Fortnite Fortnitemares event is a Halloween-themed celebration that turns the Battle Royale Map into a spooky playground for a limited time. The characters featured in the trailer will be available as cosmetic skins for purchase in the item shop. Although no official date is provided, the event typically ends at the end of October.
