Fumito Ueda no longer a Sony employee

After several rumors floating around concerning Team Ico head Fumito Ueda’s employment status with Sony, the company finally confirmed to Gamasutra that he is no longer under their employ.

While Ueda is no longer a Sony employee, he will still work on The Last Guardian until the game is completed do to contractual obligations, and is “committed to completing” it.

This is a heavy blow for Sony; even though he’s only completed two games while working for the company, both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are seen as all-time classic games. Here’s hoping that The Last Guardian can be a proper send-off for one of Sony’s greatest creative minds.

Maybe its due to the fact that it takes him a decade to make a game? #Sarcasm
