One of Sony’s key franchises over the last five to six years has been the God of War series created by David Jaffe. This past March, the final piece of the trilogy was released to retail shelves in the form of God of War III.

The title has been nothing but a huge success both in the form of critical acclaim and in sales. Speaking at the MI6 conference, Sony’s VP Of Marketing Peter Dille announced that God of War III has sold over 1 million copies within just a couple of days of release. This is a great accomplishment for first party developers on Sony’s console and should probably be enough to be the top selling game of March on console. I’d say overall, but come on, they released a Pokemon game, right?

All of the statistics will be released next week on April 8th and you can expect Pokemon, Final Fantasy XIII and God of War III to lead the way in software sales.

  1. I like it when good games sell well. Gives me hope that people still like creativity.

Well God of War and creativity doesn’t exactly fit in the same bunch.. haha. Considering it’s been criticized for being too much of the same afterall, not that it’s a bad thing. The sales are still very well deserved. Gotta kill ’em all still has nothing on Pok√©mon’s sales :p

Very cool to hear, I still didn’t get a chance to play as Kratos yet, but I’m hoping very soon that I get the chance to play it, Maybe even own it.

  6. those are excellent figures.. but are those number of world wide or just NA, if NA then the NEWS is mind blowing, and also remember that GOW3 released late in EU. Now it has been couple of weeks since the game was released i wonder whats the tally now. no doubt PS3 and GOW3 deserves it.
