A GTA-like action-adventure game is now available on the PlayStation Store. The game boasts a storyline that seems ripped straight from the Grand Theft Auto world. It also has a mechanic that elevates missions beyond simply being a genre clone.

Samson is a game set in the city of Tyndalston, published by Liquid Sword, and is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5. The action-adventure title follows Samson, who returns to his town under crushing debt. With each passing hour, his debt grows.

What can PS5 owners expect from Samson?

According to Samson’s official description, “Every clash matters. Every hit is meant to break or be broken. You cut through alleys, rooftops, and backroom dens designed to keep you moving, not sightseeing. Tyndalston shapes how you fight, climb, corner, and vanish. It’s familiar ground, but never safe ground.”

Beyond an incredible story premise backed by its mechanics, the game offers plenty of systems for players to explore. Samson is hit with a daily quota, which must be met. The consequence is a spike in interest, making the following day slightly more challenging. As his debt rises by the hour, enemy factions look to exploit his one weakness: his sister.

Combat also plays an important role, with an “Action Point System” that lets players spend their limited funds to hone skills. However, one must be careful, given that skill tree upgrades are permanent and affect gameplay.

Players also need to be on the lookout for how they conduct their business in the game, given that city law enforcement will push back against more violent methods of securing debts and doing the bidding of Samson’s creditors. Samson also has an open world that can be explored with a myriad of cars, which are also essential for combat.
