Marketing has been a tough, tough ride for Sony and the PlayStation 3. Throughout the last 3 years, the company has been criticized heavily for its poor choice of marketing strategies and even more awkward choice of ad campaigns. However, upon the release of MLB 09: The Show, Sony hit gold with Kevin Butler as their new spokesperson for — well, pretty much everything.

Thankfully, according to SCEA senior vice president Peter Dille, Butler has a long career ahead of him in the Sony marketing department and this seems to be like the best decision possible. Not only has Butler brought pure comedy gold to the PlayStation’s ad campaign reel, but he’s such a likable guy that even fanboys of other consoles can’t hate him.

“It’s been tremendously successful. Consumers love it. It’s great to hear people like you guys love it. And the results are really in the sales because it’s really been flying since this coincided in September with the launch of the new PS3. “You can expect to see Kevin Butler inject a lot of life into the PlayStation brand between now and the rest of the year,” Dille commented.

We can’t wait to see more content from this guy in the future and we’re sure he’ll have plenty of great things to say when Sony released its motion controller later this year.
