In what can only be labeled as an incredible feat, Modern Warfare 2 has managed to sell roughly 12 million copies within a month and a half during 2009. Considering the game was released in the middle of November, it should go without saying that moving that many copies of a game in that little of time is nothing short of an amazing accomplishment.

I know that I’ve been very critical of Modern Warfare 2 here on the site, but I’d like to congratulate Activision and Infinity Ward for their accomplishment in the sales department. According to Gfk-Chart Track, Modern Warfare 2 sold an approximate 11.86 million copies in that short span of time between the US, Japan and the UK. It’s hard to imagine what the titles yearly sales figures would have looked like had it released in March or May of last year.

We’re sure this isn’t the last we’ll hear of the sales success of one of last year’s major releases.
