A brand-new PS5 Pro horror-adventure game from Konami has stood out for its impressive performance. Developed by Screen Burn Interactive, the latest installment is part of a long-running franchise.
Silent Hill: Townfall launched a few days ago on PlayStation 5 Pro and has delivered a stunning experience, thanks to the console’s powerful hardware.
Compared to past entries that were in the third person, the new title features a first-person perspective.
Silent Hill: Townfall benefits from PS5 Pro’s extra power
According to a report by Digital Foundry, Silent Hill: Townfall has performed exceptionally well on the PS5 Pro, leveraging the console’s powerful hardware.
It uses hardware-accelerated Lumen in all configurations, including performance mode. As a result, players can see more convincing reflections than in other games that rely solely on software-based tricks.
On the PS5 Pro, Silent Hill: Townfall delivers a significant jump in resolution compared to the base PS5 model. Players can enjoy it at 1620p in quality mode and 1215p in performance mode.
Digital Foundry praised Townfall, calling it “an aesthetically masterful game that captures the essence of the series with great care.”
However, the outlet found that it struggles on PC due to “compilation stutter, alongside a worse rendition of the traversal stutter.” Plus, the game has several limitations too. On PC, it’s missing the integrated frame generation despite being an Unreal Engine 5 title.
An official description for Townfall reads, “Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to ‘put things right,’ encountering a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest. Venturing deeper, and driven to understand his connection to the place and its inhabitants, Simon begins to discover fragments of a past rising to the surface.”
Silent Hill: Townfall is now available for PS5 and PS5 Pro on the PS Store. It costs $49.99 and $59.99 for the Standard and Deluxe Editions, respectively.
