MotorStorm Apocalypse at PAX 2010

MotorStorm Apocalypse, the upcoming installment to the hit MotorStorm series that dates back to the PS3’s beginning, is back again.  The MotorStorm series is a series that “showcases the PlayStation 3 at its best in terms of graphics and physics”.  In this article, you’ll get the inside scoop on everything you need to know about MotorStorm Apocalypse.

  • MotorStorm’s core is the same. Many sequels tend to change things, sometimes in ways not liked by the long-time fans.  Never fear, the busy, intense racing game you knew before is still the base of the MotorStorm Apocalypse.
  • What you loved before, now in beautiful 3D. That’s right, MotorStorm is one of the various games endorsing the new 3D world.  Not only will you be pleased with the in-game destruction, but you’ll feel as if it is all around you.
  • Don’t worry about the map…  it’s useless. MotorStorm Apocalypse’s style provides us with the kind of setting you’d expect from its name: a crumbling, unpredictable city where you can never be sure of what’s next.  In previous MotorStorm games, all you had to do is play through a map a few times before you were a pro.  Not this time, though.  “You don’t discover the track; the track just kind of happens to you”.
  • Appreciate the beauty. Ever play a game where you wish you could just stop for a moment and appreciate the graphics?  If so, MotorStorm Apocalypse meet your wants.  This installment of the series allows for a “zoom control”, allowing you to zoom in and appreciate the beauty.

MotorStorm, an already unique racing series, has just become even more unique.  I look forward to playing this masterpiece of a game when it hits store shelves in February 2011.
