PlayStation PS Plus discount

Sony Interactive Entertainment is offering an extremely rare 50% discount on PlayStation Plus subscriptions to select users who are canceling their membership. While this is a targeted offer as always, a 50% discount is almost unprecedented in this console generation.

PlayStation Plus 50% discount mostly being applied to three-month subscription

Users on Reddit have reported receiving up to 50% off on three-month PS Plus Extra subscriptions. From what we’ve gathered, 12-month subscriptions are only up to 25% off, though there are reports of 33% discounts as well.

The common theme here is players canceling their subscriptions and being offered a discount to rejoin.

We doubt that this 50% offer has anything to do with Sony trying to placate players, but the timing is curious. Following the announcement that the company was ending PS5 disc production, players have been encouraging one another to cancel their PS Plus subscriptions, with many actually going ahead with the move.

“In protest of Sony going all digital, I tried to cancel my subscription. But they hit me with a 50% off if I resubscribe,” a player explained. “I didn’t take the bait,” a Reddit user responded. Not supporting Sony with a single dime until they reverse this fiasco.”
