SOE botches DC Universe limits entirely

An important reason as to why gamers go out and purchase a product on Day One is because if they’re not entirely pleased with the game, they can just re-sell it or trade it on a website for something else they’d enjoy more. Unfortunately, Sony Online Entertainment has taken a different approach with DC Universe Online and one that hasn’t been taken before as far as I’m aware.

According to LazyGamer, who questioned SOE about how the disc links to each individual account, DC Universe will only allow one account key linked to each game disc — making the resale possibility of the game very limited.

“Once the PSN key has been consumed with a disk it cannot be resold/replayed with the second user adding a sub – only the original consumer can use that acct. Disk and account are one.”

By linking the account to the disk and utilizing one key, it definitely creates an issue with the secondary market of video games. I’m not completely sure if SOE can rectify or fix this issue or not, but it’s definitely something they should look into.

  1. This game is a piss take. $120 to buy the game and then ANOTHER $120 to play the game online for half a year. Then to top it off, you can’t sell the game on and get some money back?

    Thickest. Game. Ever.

  2. Stupid idiots.

I know you console kiddies dont understand, but its always been like that. You do not sell ‘used’ MMO games, period. What theyre doing is simply extending that to the console market. Its not something you’re used to, get over it.
