Ubisoft boasts Ghost Recon as next big thing in 2010

Apparently, Ghost Recon made an appearance yesterday in Ubisoft’s third quarter fiscal reports, revealing that the game is slated for a 2010 release. According to CEO of Ubisoft France Geoffroy Sardin, he expects this next iteration to be the next big thing in 2010 and perhaps to reach the same heights as Modern Warfare 2.

Hopefully when Sardin says they’re trying to outperform Modern Warfare 2, he means technically and not just in sales as Modern Warfare 2 has been a glitch-filled title of disappointment to gamers everywhere (don’t lie — you feel the same way!). Speaking with french gamesite, GameKult, Sardin revealed this expectation as though it was common knowledge.

“The technological advances and competition are pushing us to do better. When you look at the excellent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in terms of content, multi and buzz, it needs to be level, if not much better.” he said. “We therefore take the time to refine that title. But we have seen, played and it’s just crazy.”

Of course, that is one of the worst translation jobs I’ve ever seen in my life and I could probably do a better job myself, but the gist of the quote is quite evident.

How many of you are excited for the next Ghost Recon?

  1. not really
way o many war games alread coming/out

    Battlefield BC2
    Modern Warfare 2
    Medal of Honor

all going modern and no offence

    really all the same

  2. i haven’t seen any glitches in MW2 its working just fine for me and as for ghost recon being just another war game its going to be different its a ubisoft and they focus on tactics in their games and not just run and gun as in MW2

Ghost Recon has, in my opinion, always been better than Call of Duty. Then again, I’m more into realistic tactical shooters over ridiculous, over-the-top shooters.

So for me, it will be better than MW2, but not as good as BC2, and not half as good as R6, should one of those games come around in 2010.

  4. Bring Rainbow Six back!

  5. i doubt this will be the new modern warfare this year lol
