A highly anticipated X-Men game for PS5 may have taken a major step forward following the arrival of Marvel’s Wolverine. The latest development comes amid growing excitement surrounding the upcoming live-action X-Men reboot set in the MCU.
A new job listing reveals that Insomniac is seeking a Staff Hero Designer for an unannounced project. While the listing refrains from naming a specific title, the role’s responsibilities heavily suggest the long-rumored X-Men game, according to Insider Gaming.
The biggest takeaway from the job posting is that the upcoming title will likely feature multiple playable heroes, allowing players to control various mutant characters with unique skill sets, powers, and combat styles.
Insomniac’s hiring plans also hint at new enemy AI and boss encounters
The hiring description also mentions that the selected candidate will mainly work on “combat, traversal, and 3Cs (Camera, Character, Controls) for an upcoming project.” The rumored PS5 X-Men game is also expected to have “AI enemy combatants, mini-boss characters, and large-scale boss encounters.”
The new game may also feature the “Ally” system, which allows players to control multiple heroes. However, it remains unclear how many characters players will be able to control at once.
It’s possible that the project could be an entirely different Marvel game. However, the job listing’s arrival shortly after the latest update on Marvel’s Wolverine has fueled speculation that Insomniac Games may be working on an X-Men title. The project has been rumored since 2023, when leaked details revealed several of the studio’s potential future games.
Insomniac Games had reportedly planned to release multiple Marvel-based titles through 2032, including an X-Men project. However, the studio has yet to confirm the rumored PS5 game. Until an official announcement is made, fans should take all speculation and unverified reports with a grain of salt.
Curious Marvel gaming fans can currently enjoy Marvel’s Wolverine on PlayStation 5. The superhero title was launched last month on September 15, 2026.
