Fighting game enthusiasts on PlayStation can now sample one of SNK’s flagship modern titles without spending a dime. PlayStation 5 and PS4 owners can download a dedicated free demo for the acclaimed 2025 release directly from the PlayStation Store.
Japanese publisher SNK Corporation launched the free trial for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves across PS5 and PS4 platforms. According to an official press release, the standalone demo features six playable fighters, including Rock, Terry, Hotaru, Preecha, Vox, and Mai.
Available game modes in the trial include Arcade, Classic Versus, Training, Tutorial, Trials, and Color Edits. However, Arcade mode limits players to two matches using Rock, Terry, or Hotaru, compared to seven matches in the complete version.
There are some limits, though. Online play is not available, and Classic Versus doesn’t support player-versus-player matches. Players can change the costume colors in Color Edit. But the edits and the whole demo data can’t be carried over to the full game.
The demo is also available for Xbox and PC via Steam & Epic Games.
What’s included in the full Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves game?
The full fighting game includes a single-player mode titled Episodes of South Town. It features RPG elements where players can explore South Town, fight opponents, level up their chosen characters, and equip skills.
The character roster has around 17 fighters and more added through DLCs. It is the first game in the franchise to include guest characters like real-life football icon Cristiano Ronaldo and DJ Salvatore Ganacci in the base roster.
All modes included in the demo are available without restrictions in the full game, supported by the new REV combat mechanic and two distinct control schemes catered to both newcomers and veterans.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is rated T for Teen and carries a standard retail price of $19.99 on the PlayStation Store, where it currently holds a 4.48 rating.
